Spanning 11 years of global travel, Reveals compiles a remarkable body of portrait photography captured across diverse regions—from Asia and South America to Africa and the Middle East—culminating in Newman’s time in Uganda. Organized into five thematic chapters—Rivers, Mountains, Deserts, Islands, and Jungles—the book utilizes geography as a framework to explore the shared humanity that transcends place.

Newman’s portrait style, guided and influenced by her studies at the International Center of Photography and mentorship from renowned photographers Robert Caputo, Phil Borges, and Steve McCurry, demonstrates her unique ability to connect with strangers in brief, yet meaningful, moments in time.

WENDY NEWMAN grew up in White Plains, New York. She attended Bucknell University and graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She had a long career in the fashion business, beginning as a fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar, then as the director of Prada US, and later, as the owner of the first store in New York for the shoe designer Christian Louboutin. She began her work as a travel photographer in 2000. Newman lives in New York. This is her first book.
